About Us Headteacher’s Welcome
It is a privilege to be the Headteacher of The Cottesloe School and I am delighted to welcome you here. My staff and I are fully committed to maximising the life chances of all of our students by creating a rich, deep, vibrant and challenging learning experience for everyone. Our students benefit from highly-qualified and exceptionally committed staff who recognise the importance of creative and challenging teaching; strong pastoral care and have high professional standards.
Prepare. Aspire. Succeed is my simple philosophy; what I believe is the purpose of education.
Prepare. Aspire. Succeed is what we do; it is what defines us as a school.
Prepare. Aspire. Succeed is what encapsulates all that is unique and strong about our learning community.
As teachers and leaders, we are here to help prepare students for the wider world, by equipping them with the knowledge, skills, character and moral virtues that will support them throughout life. We also make a significant contribution to their personal development and support them -especially at key milestones - in order to enable them to make well-informed choices about their futures.
We have high aspirations for our students through our promotion of academic challenge and rigour. We place great emphasis on developing the necessary qualities that breed success - both inside and outside the classroom - so students can reach the outcomes and destinations to which they aspire. This ‘Character’ is centred around our ‘Healthy Relationships’ and ‘6Cs’ agendas. We expect all members of the school community to show respect, honesty and take responsibility for accessing the opportunities the school provides. Teachers actively plan learning experiences that promote challenge, creativity, critical thinking, co-operation, collaboration and coaching, both within their classrooms and in the school as a whole.
This rich and deep learning experience – one through which students learn about, and from, the world in which they live - makes a significant contribution to their overall success as learners. It transforms them into well-educated and active citizens. Our curriculum has been carefully designed to provide challenging and suitable pathways which meet the needs of all our students. It provides an excellent range of options in GCSE, A Level and BTEC qualifications, supported by a range of vocational courses.
All students experience a high level of care and guidance to enhance their personal and academic development and to support their dreams and aspirations. Students enjoy school and appreciate its strong community feel. The Cottesloe School has a calm, purposeful learning environment; one in which all students are happy, successful and safe.
As Headteacher, I am committed to creating a ‘Cottesloe Learning Journey’, one that inspires learning and promotes a sense of fulfilment, both in terms of educational and personal achievement.
