Outward Bound Trip

A group of Year 10 students recently swapped exercise books, school uniforms and lessons in classrooms for sturdy walking boots, wet weather gear and lessons in the great outdoors at the Outward Bound Centre on the shores of Lake Ullswater in the Lake District National Park. Their usual lessons were replaced with a new timetable of swimming in freezing cold lakes, assault courses, rowing, map-reading and walking for miles over the rugged Cumbrian countryside carrying a heavy rucksack. More importantly they learnt valuable personal life skills such as working in teams, endurance, confidence building, problem solving, self-motivation and belief in their own abilities.
