Remote learning due to we extreme weather17/07/2022

The current weather and forecast for Monday and Tuesday are unprecedented. This is reflected in a Red weather warning and a Level 4 Emergency Heat Alert.

A particular concern is the high number of our students who will be travelling to and from school on buses and coaches, some of which do not have air conditioning. Temperatures are due to peak around home time on Monday and again at lunchtime on Tuesday when we close for the summer holiday.

We will move to Remote Learning on Monday (all periods) and Tuesday (periods 1 to 3) as the advice is high risk and high likelihood of heat related issues for everyone.

For those Year 10 students on work experience, we would ask that parents judge the conditions of your child’s placement and make a decision based on this. Exposure to the sun and heat varies greatly in many work experience placements.

All students will receive email instructions for Remote Learning procedures before the start of school on Monday.

Take care over the next two days.

Yours sincerely

Mr Jones
