The Day the Wonderful World of Work Came to Cottesloe
On an apparently typical school day, well Wednesday the 6th of February to be precise, something out of the ordinary happened as 22 representatives from the world of work descended on the Cottesloe School in the form of a Careers Fair.
Every student in the school, from Year 7 to Year 13, were given an insight into their potential futures by engaging with a wide variety of employment providers: from the retailer Gap to the Royal Navy; from Tiggywinkles Wildlife Hospital to Woburn Safari Park; from Buck's Ambulance Service to Specialists in Software Security to name but a few.
The aim was to compliment our current careers provision with actual meaningful encounters with industry experts, and from the positive feedback from student and exhibitors this seems to have been achieved. Indeed if a measure of success is hard empirical evidence then at least one student was able to negotiate an Apprenticeship place on the day.
The Careers Fair was designed to be a sustainable event and will definitely be a part of next year's calendar, so if you're reading this and want to be a part of this event by exhibiting next year, please get in touch.
