Welcome to The Cottesloe School 2025

Welcome | Mr Jones

You will have recently been informed that your child has been allocated a place at The Cottesloe School. I would like to take this opportunity to welcome you to the School Community. We are pleased that you have chosen us and are keen to forge strong links with you over the coming years. The school strongly believes that when students, parents and schools work together, there is very little that cannot be achieved.

At The Cottesloe School, the focus of ‘Prepare, Aspire, Succeed’ is to support all our students through their ‘Cottesloe Journey’, combining learning from and about the world in which we live. The journey does not expect each student to follow the same path but empowers them to develop the knowledge, skills and aspirations to become an excellent version of themselves, whatever their ability or background. Our aim is for all students to gain a sense of fulfilment and success through educational and personal achievement by engaging with the opportunities we create. This will enable them to be the best version of themselves; to grow, flourish and be prepared for their next steps.

We look forward to supporting your child on their Cottesloe Journey and working with you in the future.

Welcome | Mr Jones

Mrs Baldwin | Head of School

As Head of School, I am delighted to welcome all families whose children have been offered a place to join us at The Cottesloe School in Year 7 this coming September. This is a momentous occasion, marking the beginning of a significant chapter in your child's educational journey. We understand that transitioning to secondary school can be a period of both excitement and apprehension, and we want to assure you that our transition team is fully committed to making this process as smooth and positive as possible.

At The Cottesloe School, we foster a stimulating and nurturing learning environment that celebrates academic excellence, alongside personal growth and development. Our teachers and support staff work hard to help children find their pathway on the 'Cottesloe Journey'. We are confident that your child will find a supportive and inclusive community, where they are empowered to reach their full potential. In the coming months, we look forward to providing you with further information and opportunities to connect with our school community and learn more so you and your child feel prepared and ready to take the next steps towards success. We are looking forward to getting to know you and your child and working with you to support your child to blossom and reach their goals in the years to come.

Transition Pathway

The transition process has been designed to ensure students are fully prepared when they begin at The Cottesloe School in September. We believe in a personalised approach which offers support tailored to individual student needs. This process is outlined in our transition road map.

During our contact with primary schools, we will identify students who would benefit from additional support. These students will be offered enhanced transition support. This may take a range of forms depending on the needs of the child. More information about the process can be found here.

Induction Days

The induction days will take place on the 1st and 2nd July 2025. Students will be invited into school to participate in a range of lessons and activities to aid familiarisation with the school.

Character Camp

We are pleased to be able to offer our popular Character Camp to students starting at The Cottesloe School in September. Students will attend one of these days and enjoy a fun, fast-paced team-building day on our school site and the Ascott House Estate. The day will be run by school staff and instructors from one of our Outdoor Education partners, Hidden Leaders. Summer Camp is an excellent opportunity for students to familiarise themselves with others they may have met on the transition days and build confidence to start their secondary school journey. Further details will be sent out in due course. This costs approximately £80.

Financial Support:

If your child receives free school meals or pupil premium funding, please contact us at officeadministrator@cottesloe.bucks.sch.uk to discuss potential financial support options.
