Trips and Events

Trips and events are a fantastic way to learn outside the classroom. They offer unique experiences that can't be replicated in a textbook or classroom.

Here are some of the key benefits of trips and visits:

  • Enrichment: Trips and visits can enrich your learning by providing real-world examples of the concepts you study in class. For example, a visit to a museum can bring history to life, while a trip to a factory can show you how science and technology are applied in the real world.
  • Inspiration: Trips and visits can inspire you to explore new interests and passions. Seeing different places and cultures can broaden your horizons and help you develop a global perspective.
  • Teamwork and collaboration: Trips and visits often involve working with your classmates and teachers in new and exciting ways. This can help you develop important teamwork and collaboration skills.
  • Fun and Excitement: Trips and visits are a great way to have fun and make memories. They can be a break from the routine of everyday school life and a chance to relax and enjoy yourself.

What can you expect?

The experiences you'll have on a trip or visit will vary depending on the destination and the purpose of the trip. However, you can generally expect to:

  • Learn new things: Trips and visits are a great opportunity to learn about different cultures, history, science, and other subjects.
  • See new places: You'll get to explore new and exciting locations, both near and far.
  • Meet new people: You'll have the chance to meet people from different backgrounds and cultures.
  • Have fun: Trips and visits are a great way to have fun and make memories.

CPR Dummies

Restart a Heart Day is an international event which aims to increase awareness of CPR. During the day members of the South Central Ambulance Service train students in CPR, what to do in an emergency and give an overview of defibrillator use. This year over 400 students participated in the event.
British Science Week is a ten-day national celebration of science, technology and maths. The theme varies each year; in 2025 it is 'Adapt and Change'. Students across the school participate in a range of events such as experiments, competitions, a film screening and group STEAM projects. There is also a whole school competition.
In 2023, students solved clues to solve a crime, and in 2024 they found codewords to unlock blueprints hidden on a website.
Our Science Week celebrations are growing each year; we already have a mobile planetarium visit planned for 2025.
