Monday 16th March | Head of School Letter

Welcome to our second to last week of this short term. There is much to celebrate from a super busy week last week, and over the weekend! Following a visit from the Mobile Planetarium last week as part of Science Week (more on that below), we were delighted to receive some lovely feedback from their team, who praised the outstanding conduct, manners, and engagement of our students. We are incredibly proud to say that this is not a one-off occurrence. We regularly receive feedback from visitors to the school and members of the public who meet our students on trips, telling us how brilliant their behaviour and attitudes are. They tell us that this level of respect and maturity is not something they see in all schools! This is a true reflection of the wonderful, supportive community we have within and beyond TCS. We know this consistent praise of our young people is the result of parents, carers, and families working in close partnership with the school to help them develop themselves. Through personalised support, high expectations, and a culture of respect and understanding, our students can embrace challenges with confidence. We encourage them to aspire to reach their full potential, nurturing their ambitions in a safe and supportive setting. Building these strong foundations ensures that, together, we enable every student to succeed, both in school and beyond, as resilient, compassionate, and responsible citizens through equity of opportunity. Thank you for your continued support in helping our young people become such positive forces for good as they shape their futures.
National Cross Country Success
A massive congratulations to Poppy M and Olive G, who proudly represented Buckinghamshire at the 2026 English Schools' Athletic Association (ESAA) Cross Country Championships on Saturday, 14th March, at Sefton Park in Liverpool. Competing at this prestigious national level is a huge achievement, the girls’ hard work in training, their ambition to compete against the best, and their fantastic results helped the Buckinghamshire team secure an impressive 19th place out of 48 counties. Olive ran an absolutely amazing race, finishing 33rd out of 338 runners. To achieve such a high placement while being a 'year young' and racing against older girls is a true testament to her ambition. What an astonishing performance! Poppy was competing in her first-ever English Schools event; she ran a brilliantly strong race in the Junior Girls category. She finished 127th out of 349 runners, crossing the line in a superb 12:14 over the 3.2km course. She held her pace beautifully and showed sheer determination to deliver a fantastic sprint finish, even with jelly legs! We are incredibly proud of both of you for your grit and dedication. You have truly shown what it means to Prepare, Aspire, and Succeed. Well done, girls!
Fantastic Bronze Medal for TCS Inspire Choir!
I am absolutely thrilled to announce that our school choir, Inspire, has won a brilliant Bronze medal in the Senior School Choir class at the Milton Keynes Festival of the Arts! Taking home a medal is a phenomenal achievement in itself, but what makes this even more remarkable is that our talented students competed against and beat choirs from dedicated Performing Arts schools. To stand out and succeed in such a highly competitive field is a testament to their hard work, dedication, and beautiful vocal performances. A huge congratulations to the incredible vocalists who made this happen: Libby W, Emily S, Lucia P, Tiana A, Nancy H, Elianne P, Flora K, Maisie C, and Freya I. You were magnificent, and we are so very proud of your success. Well done!

British Science Week
Inspired by this year's theme, Curiosity: What’s Your Question?, our students voted to explore the topic of the oceans: What Lies Beneath. Throughout the week, our KS3 students have been learning about the ocean depths and the variety of STEM careers connected to marine environments. Students enjoyed the challenge of designing their own creatures capable of surviving deep-sea conditions, producing some fantastic and highly creative work. Alongside their lessons, students across the school were invited to solve clues hidden around the site as part of a whole-school escape room activity. The in-school mobile planetarium provided a wonderful opportunity to connect the study of our oceans with the wider solar system. We were also very pleased to welcome students from two of our feeder schools, Wingrave and Overstone, to visit the school and experience the planetarium for themselves. To conclude the week's events, a group of our Year 7 students headed to the SeaLife Centre in Birmingham on Friday for a sleepover trip. It was a memorable experience for the students and a lovely way to wrap up a very successful Science Week. Thank you to all the students for their excellent engagement and curiosity throughout the week! We would also like to say a huge thank you to Mrs Moore, all of our Science teachers, and our brilliant Science technicians, Mrs Hutley and Miss Paterson, for working so hard to organise such an engaging week of activities.

KS3 Choices
Form deadline The deadline for Year 8 students to submit their KS3 Year 9 Choices form is this Wednesday 18th March. Here’s a link to the form: KS3 Year 9 Choices Form At the time of writing, we’ve had 115 forms submitted so there’s another 95 to go!
Wear A Hat Day
On Friday 27th March, we will be taking part in Wear A Hat Day to support Brain Tumour Research. Since launching in 2010, this brilliant annual fundraiser has raised over £2.2 million, enabling scientific breakthroughs and helping to fund the fight to find a cure for all types of brain tumours. With one in three people knowing someone affected by a brain tumour, it is a cause we are incredibly proud to support. Whether they favour a fedora, sport a sombrero, or pop on a Panama, we are inviting all students to wear a hat to school on the day! To take part, we ask for a small donation which can be made easily via MCAS.
In addition to the hats, Year 9 student, Edie, will be running a special bake sale under the bus shelter during break and lunch on the day. Please note that the bake sale will be cash only, so students should remember to bring some change if they would like to buy a sweet treat and support Edie's fantastic fundraising efforts. We look forward to seeing everyone's brilliant hats and raising money for such an important cause!

Support for Upcoming Exams
As we move closer to the exam period, with Year 11 and 13 having now completed their final set of mock exams, and some Year 10 students preparing for their first GCSE exams in Statistics this summer, we know that revision and exam pressure can feel particularly intense. However, this advice and support is just as applicable to our younger year groups who may be preparing for important tests, or students across the school taking external exams such as music and drama grades. While a certain level of stress is completely normal, ongoing anxiety, low mood, or feeling overwhelmed can impact both their wellbeing and their performance. It is important that students remember to:
- Take regular breaks and get enough sleep
- Maintain healthy routines, including regular meals and physical movement
- Talk to someone if the pressure of revision starts to feel unmanageable
To help you support your child through the upcoming exam season, Kooth is offering a free, 45-minute online webinar tonight (Monday 16th March) at 7:00pm, entitled: How you can support your child to manage exam stress
Helpful Resources
Further support and guidance are available online to help manage exam stress in healthy ways. We encourage families to explore these resources together. Knowing how to recognise stress early and where to find support can make a real difference during this demanding time.

Sports Report
Good luck to our Year 7 and 8 students who will be attending a pickleball tournament this Thursday. We know you will represent the school brilliantly, and we cannot wait to hear how you get on! There are also a number of netball tournaments at AHS throughout the week – good luck to our netballers.
Football
Our football teams continue to be in sensational form! We are thrilled to report that all of our football teams finished at the very top of their groups. We are currently organising the semi-finals of the county cups for all year groups, with these matches set to be played in the next week or so. They have all played brilliantly to reach this stage, and we are incredibly proud of their achievements. On the pitch this week, the Year 9 boys secured a superb 8-1 victory against STFS on Tuesday. The Year 8 boys were also in clinical form on Wednesday, delivering a fantastic performance to win 7-3, also against STFS.
Netball
In netball, Monday saw two brilliant victories against Waddesdon. The Year 10 team secured a fantastic 27-10 win, showing great teamwork in a high-scoring game, with Emily taking a well-deserved Player of the Match. The Year 11 team also faced Waddesdon in a nail-biting contest, working hard to edge out a brilliant 11-10 victory, with Grace named Player of the Match. On Wednesday, the Year 8 A and B teams played against SHFGS. The A-team put on a superb attacking display to win 18-6, with Freya awarded Player of the Match. The B team faced very tough opposition and, despite showing great resilience and effort throughout their match, unfortunately lost 13-3. Michelle was named Player of the Match for her fantastic determination on the court.
