Our Partnership with Inclusive Attendance
At The Cottesloe School, we believe that every day counts. However, we also understand that there are often complex reasons behind why a student might struggle to attend school.
To ensure we are providing the best possible support for our families, we are proud to be working in formal partnership with Inclusive Attendance.

What is the Inclusive Attendance Standard?
Inclusive Attendance is a nationally recognised framework that helps schools move away from traditional, punitive attendance models. Instead, it focuses on building a culture of belonging, safety, and proactive support.
Through this partnership, we have committed to:
-
Whole Staff Expertise: Every member of our staff team has undertaken an Accredited Professional Development Programme to better understand and support the barriers to attendance.
-
A "Support First" Model: We use a multi-tiered approach to ensure that when a student is struggling, families work alongside us in a partnership, rather than feeling they are facing challenges alone.
-
Data-Driven Care: We use "intelligent data" to spot trends early, allowing us to offer help before a situation becomes a crisis.
"Our core message is simple: 'We miss you when you're not here.' We want every young person to know they have a place at The Cottesloe School and that their presence is valued by the entire school community."
Our Achievements
We are thrilled to announce that we have been awarded the Inclusive Attendance Bronze Standard. This accreditation was awarded following a rigorous audit of our culture and practices.
The audit highlighted:
-
A 4% reduction in Persistent Absence.
-
High levels of confidence among students, who reported feeling safe and knowing they belong.
-
Our invitation to become a Collaborative National School, where we now help share our successful strategies with other schools across the UK.
Working Together
We know that life can be challenging, and we are here to help. If you are worried about your child’s attendance, or they are finding it difficult to come into school, please do not hesitate to contact our Attendance Team.
Together, we can ensure your child feels safe, supported, and ready to learn.
