The level 2 Health and Social Care course will inspire and equip students with transferable skills that are relevant to the sector and more widely. It covers the rights of individuals, person-centred values of care, how to protect individuals in various care settings and learn about the impact of life events. The course is assessed through two series of non-exam assessments and an exam at the end of Year 11.

In Year 11, through the study of a range of topics across all three of the science disciplines.

Assessment Details
Students will complete non-exam assessments throughout the course which will contribute to 60% of their final grade. They will complete an exam at the end of Year 11.
Year 10
There will be two formal assessments:
- Initial knowledge checker assessment
- Non-exam assessment – health promotion campaigns
Year 11
There will be two formal assessments:
- Non-exam assessment – supporting individuals through life events
- March mock exam.

What can I do to support my child at home?
- Take an interest in the science that students are studying
- Encourage students to practice spellings and learn definitions
- Encourage students to complete the homework and meet deadlines
- Help students prepare thoroughly for assessments
