Our Year 8 mathematics curriculum follows the updated White Rose Maths Version 3 (v3) scheme of learning. Grounded in a mastery approach, the curriculum breaks complex mathematical concepts into small, structured steps. This sequence builds deep conceptual understanding, mathematical fluency, and problem-solving skills, while making links across subjects like science. 

Core Principles of Our Curriculum:

  • Concrete–Pictorial–Abstract (CPA): Students transition from visual models to abstract algebraic and numerical algorithms, ensuring lasting conceptual understanding. 
  • Depth Over Acceleration: Rather than rushing through topics, students delve deeper to master core skills and apply their knowledge to unfamiliar, real-world contexts. 
  • Interlinked Mathematical Strands: Learning spans six core areas: Number, Algebra, Ratio & Proportion, Geometry & Measures, Probability, and Statistics.
