Since 2013, over 650 graduates have gone on to gain Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) through Astra, which works with approximately sixty local primary, secondary and special schools. 

Astra training blends theory and practice, with both carefully structured school placements and a focus on helping trainees develop an up-to-date knowledge and understanding of pedagogy in their specialist subject or phase. Astra trainees are supported both by an in-school mentor and a team of highly qualified and experienced tutors; training in person at Buckinghamshire schools. Throughout, trainees have the opportunity to work alongside colleagues from a range of school contexts.

We are always keen to support trainees in a variety of subjects, but in particular, Maths, English Science, Performing Arts and DT.

Whether a recent graduate or a career switcher, Astra training is designed to provide you with the knowledge, understanding and skills to be a successful classroom teacher, who is an expert in their specialist subject.
